Welcome to the Beta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta website!

I'm honoured to be able to tell you about our amazing organization. Kappa Alpha Theta is the oldest Greek-letter organization for women. It was founded in 1870 by a woman who decided that fraternities need not only be for men and saw a chance to become a leading woman. Our own chapter, Beta Upsilon, is proud to be the oldest and largest Theta chapter in Canada, connecting with the many other chapters throughout North America, altogether over 250,000 members strong.

Membership in Kappa Alpha Theta leads women into a life of friends, experiences, and goals that they might not have had otherwise. Being a Theta means being a woman who strives for personal excellence, and to be the best version of herself. The impact that Theta has on our members' lives is not only for the duration of their undergraduate careers, but for the rest of their lifetimes.

Theta has provided me with an amazing group of women that continue to show me what friendship is, what the power of hard work can bring, and what pushing to be the best version of myself means. These women have given me the love and support that I need to pursue any goal that I have ever had, and to set even more ambitious goals for myself than I would have ever thought possible.

As Thetas, we not only have the chance to lead on our campuses, in our communities, and in our professions, but we also have the chance to effect real change, just as our founders did. Our members channel their passion of spreading the widest influence for good by supporting two charities; Canuck’s Place Children’s Hospice and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

So whether you're looking for someone with whom to join a sports team, to motivate you to go the gym, to keep you company during late nights at the library, to share an extra-large pizza, or to provide a shoulder to cry on, Thetas will always have your back. The lifelong friendships developed through membership with Theta will provide all the faith, hope, and love you'll need during your time at UBC, and for the rest of your life.

I encourage you to look around our website and connect with us on our social media accounts, to get an idea of what it is like to be a Theta. We cannot wait to meet you during Formal Recruitment!

Theta love and mine,
